The DMAM Foundation’s BingoBASH Committee is seeking proposals from local nonprofits to benefit from the February 27, 2027 event. If you support a local nonprofit doing work in the greater Des Moines area who you think would be worthy of being considered, please share the attached RFP with your network. We will be awarding up to $15,000 or more (per NP) to three nonprofits in 2027 in our three areas of focus:  food insecurity, human trafficking prevention, and mental health. Any nonprofit who recently submitted a proposal to DMAM this spring 2026 for the Community Service grant does not need to resubmit; we will use their proposal.

Details in next week’s Monday Memo.

Our member, Lyle Simpson, has been studying why Americans should celebrate Friday the Thirteenth for 40 years.  He has written the short essay attached in celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the American Declaration of Independence, explaining why the United States is the very first nation in the world where “We the People” elect our government leadership, and we can change our government leaders every four years.  Previously, no other nation could do that.   And it is all because of Friday the 13th, 1307.   He asked if he could share this with you because very few Americans today know this history.
